Jack County track athletes qualify for state
Representatives from three Jack County schools qualified for the state track meet next Saturday, by virtue of a top two finish in their events at the respective regional track meets.
Jacksboro sophomore Kylie Tullous will compete in the long jump, winning the event with a 17’ 7 3/4” leap. She also placed eighth in the pole vault with a 9’6” leap.
Classmate Kaleem Howard was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a 40.5 time with freshman Brailyn Tullous finishing 12th in the 800-meter run with a 2:34.57 time. Savannah Thompson competed in the shot put finishing 14th in the event.
Bryson will be represented by its girls 400-meter relay team (Allie Orr, Windsor Godfrey, Hanna Perez and Tracy Hauger) which won the event in 52.93 seconds. Perez finished 3rd in the 100-meters in 13.32 as did Tanner Burby in the triple jump with a 40’10” and the 300 hurdles in 43.36.
The 1,600-meter relay team of Newton, Braydee Thorne, Riley Valliant and Godfrey were fourth in 4:38.37. Orr was sixth in the pole vault with a 7’ leap with Kassidie Newton seventh with a 6’6”.
Perrin will be represented by senior Abby Vanbuskirk who was second in the triple jump in 34’ 1 1/2”. She was also 3rd in the long jump with a 16’8”. Also third was Aaliyah Brown in the shot put with a 33’9 1/2” and Dylan Trammell in the discus.
The state meet will be held at the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin.
