Baseball team beats Nocona, 13-8
NOCONA – If you can’t help your team one way, try another.
Senior Ty Kennedy learned that lesson Tuesday evening, Jacksboro’s pitcher not having his best night on the mound. Kennedy was solid at the plate, however, batting in five runs which actually proved the difference in a 13-8 win over the Indians at Bob Storey Field here.
Jacksboro remained perfect in District 8-3A at 3-0 and 7-8-1 overall while Nocona drops to 0-3 and 6-6. Tiger Coach Blake Belcher said his squad didn’t have one of its best outings.
“We hit the ball okay but we didn’t do well defensively and Ty wasn’t at his best,” Belcher said after the 2:36 encounter. “The thing is a few years back, we probably lose that game, so we are growing as a program, so we can take that from this.”
Single runs in the first two Tiger at-bats were overcome by a four-run Nocona second. The back-and-forth contest began to turn with an eight-run Jacksboro third.
