Athletes can begin work outs June 8
Junior high and high school athletes can begin working out June 8.
According to a plan from the UIL, which came out late last month, junior high athletes can work out June 8 until the day before the first day of school while high school athletes can do the same or the day before opening day of the season, whichever comes earlier.
There are restrictions including strength and conditioning sessions can be for no more than two hours a day and an athlete can attend no more than one sessions per day, Monday through Friday.
Sports specific skill instruction can occur for no more than 90 minutes a day with no more than 60 minutes given to a single sport Monday through Friday. For sports specific drills, no more than 15 students will be allowed.
Attendance is voluntary, but attendance will be kept although athletes will not be required to make up missed time.
