Cowgirls fall on road
MINERAL WELLS – In the eyes of Bryson Volleyball Coach Chelsea Kincaid, her Cowgirl volleyball team has had problems with its mental game this year ... and Tuesday night’s 22-25, 15-25, 26-24, 21-25 loss to the host Lady Rams was proof positive of that.
Against the Class 4A squad, Bryson found itself in deep holes early in games, which has been a problem this season.
“We need to learn to come out swinging from the start,” Kincaid said after the 90-minute match. “I don’t want to use the youth card, but we only have two seniors, which I think is a young team. We’re still seeing and feeling ourselves as a team.”
Kincaid said she wanted to play larger teams in the early going to prepare the squad for district play. It has worked as the squad finished third in its bracket at the Brewer Tournament last weekend. Bryson was the smallest school in the 16-team tournament, competing against Class 4-6A schools.
“I was proud of the way we were able to close the gaps in games,” Kincaid said. “We just need to eliminate the gaps.”
