Bryson girls move into area

BOWIE – Bryson’s varsity volleyball squad used solid defense to fuel its offense Tuesday night in posting a 25-22, 25-12, 23-25, 25-20 win over Saint Jo in a bi-district matchup at Jackrabbit Gym.

The Cowgirls, the District 9 runner-up, are now 25-12 for the season and will face Avalon, the District 12 champ, in an area round matchup Saturday at 2 p.m. in Boyd.

Bryson Coach Chelsea Kincaid, who played her high school ball at Bowie, said her squad’s defense throughout the 89-minute match was key.

“Our defense has fueled our offense all season,” Kincaid said. “We were able to shake off a slow start in game one and prevail.”
