Bryson girls fall in area
TIOGA – Games can turn on a dime.
Bryson can speak firsthand on that, cutting a first-quarter deficit to one before a last-second free throw barrage by Saltillo seemingly turned the tide for good as the Lady Lions pulled away from there and posted a closer than it looked 44-33 win in a Region II-A area playoff game here Thursday evening.
Bryson, the District 22-A runner-up, finished at 17-9, while Saltillo, the District 24-A champ moves on at 28-8.
Bryson Coach Gary Kirby said his squad had its chances throughout the game but couldn’t convert.
“We also didn’t block out which allowed them some easy buckets,” Kirby said. “We also missed a bunch of free throws.”
The Cowgirls were 8-41 from the floor and 14-28 from the free throw line and had a slow time getting started throughout the night.
