Weekend tournaments keep teams busy

Another weekend means another full slate of basketball tournaments for county teams.

Jacksboro’s girls, fresh off a second-place finish in Glen Rose, head to Peaster for an 11-team tournament. The girls open Thursday at 10 a.m. vs. Fort Worth Paschal and at 1 p.m. vs. Whitewright. Both games are in the middle school gym.

Depending on how the Tigerettes do in their pool will determine when they play the rest of the weekend.

Jacksboro’s boys, which went 0-4 in their tournament last weekend, will play a round-robin schedule up in Archer City. The Tigers will play at noon Thursday in the back gym vs. Lindsay and at 7:30 p.m. vs. the host Wildcats in the Main Gym.

Friday, the boys will play at 11 a.m. vs. former district foe Henrietta in the Main Gym and at 5 p.m. in the back gym vs. Haskell.

Saturday the boys conclude their tournament at 1:30 p.m. in the back gym vs. Hirschi JV.

Bryson’s boys and girls compete in the Vernon Tournament. The girls opened vs. WF Rider JV at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Vernon College. If they win they play at 10:30 a.m. Friday, if they lose, it’s at 9 a.m. Friday both at Vernon College.

The Cowboys open vs. Quanah at 3 p.m. Thursday at Fulton Gym. They play again at 7:30 p.m. Friday, a Thursday win and the Cowboys play at Fulton Gym while a Thursday loss moves the game to Vernon College.

Perrin is playing in the Gorman Hot Hoops Tournament. The girls open at 8 a.m. Thursday in the old gym vs. Eastland JV. The boys will be playing one game a day opening at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the old gym vs. Blum, 4:30 p.m. Friday in the same gym vs. Gholson and then 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the new gym vs. the hosts.
