Basketball teams hit hardwood this weekend
County basketball teams are hosting or competing in the first of three tournaments this weekend beginning Thursday.
Jacksboro’s boys host their tournament. After a multi-round run through the football playoffs, the Tigers will have their season opener at 9 a.m. Thursday vs. Archer City followed by a 3 p.m. game vs. Nocona. Other Thursday games include Godley-Windthorst at 10:30 a.m., Nocona-Midway at noon, Boyd-Seymour at 1:30 p.m., Godley-Boyd at 4:30 p.m., Seymour-Holliday at 6 p.m. and Archer City-Midway at 7:30 p.m.
On Friday, Windthorst-Holliday open play at 10 a.m., followed by Jacksboro-Midway at 11:30 a.m., Godley-Seymour at 1 p.m., Nocona-Archer City at 2:30 p.m. and Boyd-Windthorst at 4 p.m. Saturday’s action will open with the fourth-place teams from each pool at 10 a.m. followed by the third-place teams at 11:30 a.m., the second-place teams at 1 p.m. and the pool winners at 2:30 p.m.
The Tigerettes leave Jacksboro after a four-game homestand to do battle in the Glen Rose Tournament. Pool play opens Thursday with an 11:15 a.m. game vs. Alvarado and a 4:15 p.m. game with Burkburnett. Pool play action begins Friday afternoon which is to be determined.
Down US Highway 281, Perrin will be hosting its tournament which includes Bryson’s boys and girls as well. The Cowgirls and Cowboys open the tournament with 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. games Thursday morning vs. Chico. Perrin then closes out the day with 5 and 6:30 p.m. games vs. Wichita Falls Notre Dame.
Depending on how Bryson does they will face either Bethesda or Chico JV in the second round Friday morning while Perrin will face either Forestburg or Lingleville Friday afternoon.
