It’s an expression rarely heard these days, perhaps because there are so many lenses through which life-in-a-hurry can be viewed. When’s the last time you heard, “I saw it with my own eyes”?
The gunman who killed 21 people inside a Uvalde elementary school walked into the unlocked building unopposed, the Department of Public Safety said in a revised statement, as reported by the Austin American-Statesman and other media sources.
Sometimes I wonder what it would take to make someone happy. Really happy. Don’t get me wrong… I’m a Christian, so that’s a given. Without faith in something higher than oneself, life would be rather pointless. Without a framework… even the simple one that Jesus suggested… “love God and love your neighbor as much as you love yourself”… or something close to that. Even that framework of behavior is effective… and would make most of us happy.

He called recently to provide his analysis of members of the Thicket Community Church whose pastor called for a special mid-week prayer session appealing for rain. It would be at high noon on the church lawn.
Early voting in the May 24 primary runoff elections ends Friday, May 20. Under state law, voters who cast ballots in either party’s primary election must vote only in the same party’s runoff election. Voters who did not cast ballots in the primary may vote in either party’s runoff election.
