WF Notre Dame too much for Tigerettes

Fri, 08/24/2018 - 2:35 pm

Jacksboro’s varsity volleyball squad forced five games with visiting Wichita Falls Notre Dame Tuesday evening but ultimately came out on the short end of a 16-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 12-15 stick in its home opener.

The back and forth match, which took just under two hours to complete, had major swings in both directions. Notre Dame breaking a 12-all tie in game one with a six-point run which ultimately allowed the visiting Lady Knights to pull away. Jacksboro picked up single serving points from Carly Hart and Baylee Thompson but it was too little too late.

The hostesses used a single Alex Holman point and a Thompson pair to go up 6-2 in game two. Frontcourt work from Leah Plaster and Thompson helped with the early lead. A six-point string from Trinity Tisdale, aided by a pair of Carli Smith kills, helped extend the lead to 15-6.

Jacksboro put the lead into double figures thanks to a Holman pair at 18-7. Notre Dame drew within three at 19-22 but it would be as close as the visitors would get, Thompson finishing the game with a kill to even the match at a game apiece.
