Allen begins coaching in Bryson

Mon, 07/30/2018 - 3:36 pm

BRYSON – Being away from family for a job is very tough.

Brad Allen knows the feeling, coaching in Perryton last year while his family lived in Wichita Falls. Being unable to see his children play their senior year was tough on the veteran coach.

“My family asked me to find a job closer to home, so that’s why I’m here,” Allen, the new boys' basketball coach in Bryson, said during a recent interview. “I’m living in Wichita Falls right now, but getting to know the community and integrating myself has helped.”

Allen, who graduated from Oklahoma City University, started his coaching career in Joshua in 1999 and then moving on to Kemp, West Mesquite, Frankston, Electra, Burkburnett, Perryton, and now Bryson. He has coached nearly every sports but has focused on football and basketball, which he will be coaching here along with teaching U.S. History and World Geography at the secondary level.
