Fire consumes a home at 1451 Kinder Mountain Road Monday afternoon. Getting enough water to fight the fire at the remote location was part of the battle.

Fire destroyed a home in rural Jack County Monday afternoon. Fire crews were dispatched to 1451 Kinder Mountain Road at approximately 3:15 p.m. for a structure fire.

By the time the Jacksboro engine arrived at the residence just over 18 miles from the station, the fire was fully involved.

Captain Jason Jennings said the man who lived at the home had been next door in his shop when the fire began.

Crews from Bryson, Perrin and Graford also responded to the fire, but needed more water to fight it.

Jennings said Pct. 2 and 3 County Commissioners James Brock and Henry Birdwell, along with county employee Kenny Kinder, responded with the county’s two large water trucks.

Fire crews did not leave the scene until approximately 6 p.m. The home was a total loss and Jennings does not know how it started.

“I have no clue whatsoever,” he said. “There wasn’t enough left of it for us to do any real detailed investigation. I can assume a lot of things, but I don’t really know for sure.”

He added there would be no further investigation by the fire department. Any further investigation would be made by an insurance company.
