TBC 10U wins World Series

Thu, 07/05/2018 - 10:53 am

Tiger Baseball Club’s 10U Elite Squad, with players from Jacksboro, Bowie, Paradise, and Graham, had a tremendous finish to its year in Grapevine last week, winning the AAA Travel Sports World Series amongst 34 teams from around Dallas Fort Worth and the region.

The three TBC squads, which included 9U and 12U teams,  finished the year 91-33-3. The Travel Sports group is part of the United States Specialty Sports Association, which has thousands of teams under its umbrella across the nation.

Assistant Coach Brody Rockey said the Tigers started off slow, going 0-1-1 in their first two games before rebounding with a 9-4 win over the SuperSox, which was thought to be a solid team by the Jacksboro coaches.

“Beating a team like that put a little pep in our step,” Rockey said.

Head Coach Bart Gavitt said his squad showing persistence in the face of adversity was key.

“Those kids giving their full effort was a big turnaround,” Gavitt said.
