Tiger BB loses pair
WICHITA FALLS – In a season finale that had four players out of pocket, Jacksboro’s boys' basketball squad gave it a solid effort but the Tigers were outmanned by Archer City and Vernon in suffering a pair of City View Summer League losses.
Brief summaries of both games follow:
Archer City 44, Jacksboro 29
Big first half runs by the Wildcats enabled the squad to pull away early for the win.
Kyler Kenvin’s three-pointer got Jacksboro off on the right foot. The Tigers’ Wheelis Green did a solid job on the boards in the early going but Archer City’s guards proved to be a handful defensively for the young Tigers, who had only one senior on the floor in guard Ethan Sanchez.
Landon Davenport’s bucket gave the squad its last lead at 5-4. The Wildcats had a pair of baskets down low to take an 8-5 lead. Davenport added a pair of free throws to trim the deficit to one.
Archer City then went on a 10-0 run to put the lead into double figures, forcing Jacksboro Coach Stewart Chalmers into a respite. The break worked as Kenvin’s free throws and a Green basket got the deficit back to seven at 18-11.
A 9-0 Wildcat run would more than double the lead at 27-11. Reno Rollans would close the half with free throws which cut the halftime deficit to 27-13.
