Squad to open playoffs with Breckenridge this weekend

BOYD – Jacksboro rode both ends of the rollercoaster April 27, coming through with strong starts and finishes in an 8-5 win over the host Yellowjackets.

The Tigers broke a second-place tie with the District 8-3A victory and finish the regular season on a strong note to go 10-4 in loop play (14-12-1 overall) while dropping Boyd, which had beaten the squad in the first meeting to 9-5 and 17-7.

Jacksboro had to wait until Saturday afternoon to find out its bi-district foe but after an 11-6 Peaster win over Breckenridge, the Tigers will face the Buckaroos (17-11) in a best-of-three series starting at 7 p.m. tonight in Graford. Games two, and three if necessary are set for Saturday at 11 a.m. Jacksboro faced Breckenridge earlier this season, winning 8-2 in the Windthorst Tournament in early March.

Tiger Coach Blake Belcher said his squad hit the ball well, pounding out 13 hits, which was key.

“We got the hits when we needed them too, which was key,” Belcher said after the 2:31 affair. “Their pitcher was good as well.”
