Tigers win, 2-1

Thu, 04/26/2018 - 1:28 pm

Behind a solid pitching performance from Ty Kennedy, who saw his first action on the hill in about a month, Jacksboro was able to maintain its hold on third place in District 8-3A Tuesday night, getting just enough hitting to help post a 2-1 win over visiting Paradise.

The Tigers (9-4 and 13-12-1) get the season sweep over the Panthers to guarantee no worse than a third-place finish in the loop while Paradise (7-6 and 9-13) needs a win over Bowie Friday to clinch a playoff spot. While Jacksboro Coach Blake Belcher was pleased with the win, he knows that with the playoffs commencing next week, some things need to improve.

“We need to start hitting better with runners in scoring position,” Belcher offered following the 2:10 contest. “We had enough hitting but we can’t strand 11 runners come playoff time."
