Jacksboro has a full time streaming 24-7 radio station at www.jacksbororadio.net. Craig Fenter, owner of Jacksboro Welding Supply at 421 N. Main, runs the station out of the back of the shop and says it has been a lot of fun and he has learned a lot about the radio business.

Radio stations don’t have to be the major conglomerates they’re made out to be.

One is actually being run out of the back of Jacksboro Welding Supply at 421 N. Main in Jacksboro, the signal going about as far as the courthouse. Owner Craig Fenter says he began the station about two years ago as a kind of joke.

“I wanted something local and while I love the stations like 92.1 and the Ranch, they play the same stuff over and over,” Fenter said. “I wanted to try something different and play a lot of music you won’t hear a lot anywhere else.”

He then began streaming across the internet on Tune In or by clicking on Tune 365 on the station website jacksbororadio.net. The station uses LP transmitters which are used in everyday items as garage door openers and remote controls.

He says the station, found at AM 1610, is more of a hobby, which he spends about 15 hours a week on, getting all the music for the local shows organized as well as keeping the syndicated shows moving 24/7/365.
