Bryson girls fall in bi-district

Thu, 02/15/2018 - 1:55 pm

EASTLAND – Intensity is a tough thing to contend with when you’re not used to it.

Gorman gave Bryson everything it wanted defensively in its Region III-A bi-district matchup Monday night, playing in your face, hands-up defense for 32 minutes. The Cowgirls were able to contend with it for a half before wearing down in a closer than it looked 73-40 loss at Marshall Gym.

Bryson, the third-place team out of District 17-A, ends its year at 10-14 while No.23-ranked Gorman goes to 24-3. Cowgirl Coach Gary Kirby said his squad had trouble all night with the Lady Panther press.

“They played at a tempo that we didn’t need to be playing at and weren’t used to,” Kirby said. “We didn’t break their press most of the game and they made some defensive adjustments on us in the second half that hurt.”
