Bryson 2nd in MWCC Tournament
MINERAL WELLS – Bryson’s boys' basketball squad overcame the loss of two starters to finish 2nd in the Mineral Wells Community Christian Tournament Dec. 21-22.
In the opener, the squad used a big fourth quarter to overcome a deficit and post a 47-39 win over Flint. The Cowboys were behind 36-33 heading into the final frame but a sign of things to come came early as Braeden Houser buried the first of his two threes in the first 20 seconds to knot the game at 36. A pair of fellow senior Jon Alaniz free throws put Bryson up 38-36 with 6:50 left.
Houser again connected from outside as the lead went up to five with 2:45 left. Bryson began stepping into passing lanes to come up with turnovers. That, coupled with a 1-9 shooting frame for the Falcons, would spell the beginning of the end for Flint.
Bryson was 4-7 from the floor late, with Houser, who had 24 points, coming through with all four buckets and a 10-point final stanza. Cowboys Coach Joe Rackley said finally getting into an offensive rhythm was key.
