Bryson FB opens playoffs with Gorman

Thu, 11/16/2017 - 12:32 pm

BRYSON - It took three years of hard work but the Cowboys look like they may be ready to make a run through the Class A corral in 2017.

After a pair of first-round losses in the past two years, Bryson wants to extend its drive in the postseason and Coach Jason Briles says this might be the year for two reasons. One being the district championship the squad picked up by sweeping through District 12-A. Second being a tough non-district slate which included losses to Milford and defending state champ and top-ranked Borden County.

The squad has not lost since the game with Borden County, winning six in a row. No one ever likes to lose, but the setbacks may have been a blessing in disguise.

“Playing Milford and BC really has made a difference for us,” Briles said. “We won’t see speed and physicality like those two teams for a few rounds and it’s let the boys know mentally that we can play with anyone now.”
