Bryson volleyballers qualify for Region II-A Tournament

By virtue of two wins over the last week, Bryson’s volleyball team qualified for the Region II-A Tournament this weekend in San Angelo.

The Cowgirls will face Blum at 7 p.m. Friday at San Angelo Central High School for a berth in the regional final, which will be played Saturday at 1 p.m.

Summaries of both games follow:

Bryson 25-25-25 Milford 15-21-23

Holes are a detriment to many, whether in the real or proverbial sense.

Bryson’s volleyball team had a problem with slow starts in the early going, which forced the Cowgirls to fight out of holes, or deficits. As the season has gone on, being able to avoid or fight out of the holes has enabled Bryson to get a Class A district title.

In its opening playoff game Nov. 2, the Cowgirls showed the ability to do both and swept past a game but outmanned squad Milford 25-15, 25-23, 25-23 in the Class A area round. The win moved the squad into the Region II quarters where the girls faced St. Jo on its home court Monday evening.

Bryson Coach Chelsea Kincaid said getting off to a good start, also a problem this year was key.
