Dennis Ray Varner

Dennis Ray Varner went home September 15, 2017 in Jacksboro. He was born September 3, 1955 in Waco, Texas to Geraldine and A.B. “Red” Varner.

In his younger years, he was a stellar athlete for Levelland High School in both baseball and was a state champion pole vaulter. He married the love of his life and his best friend, Donna Kay Epps, June 20, 1991. He also worked tirelessly in his extensive career in the oil well service industry, a career that spanned 40-plus years.

He was a hard worker, devoted husband, the best dad in the world and number one Grampa.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Brenda Isbell.

He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his wife of 26 years Donna Varner of Jacksboro, Texas, daughter Monica Thomas and husband William of Windthorst, Texas, son Garrett Gene Gunter of Jacksboro, granddaughter Ashleigh Thomas of Tucson, Arizona, granddaughter Amy Thomas of Windthorst, Texas, brother Danny Varner and wife Cynthia of Levelland, Texas, sister Vickie Johnson and husband Gary of Enid, Oklahoma, sister Reanae Glenn of Jacksboro, Texas, sister Patricia Lorzano and husband Armando of Granbury, Texas, brothers-in-law Ray Collum of Godley, Texas and Mitchell Isbell of Jacksboro, Texas, plus many nieces, nephews, extended family and oilfield family.

A memorial service was held Monday, September 18 at Christian Missions Church in Jacksboro with Pastor Eugene Weldon officiating.
