David Marie Hunter

David Marie Hunter passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was 96 years old.

She was born on May 26, 1921 to Dave and Mary Evelyn (Walters) Lindsey in Jack County, Texas.

Davie, as many called her, married Dr. Clarence VanDyke Hunter on March 7, 1948. She received her bachelor’s degree in Bible from Texas Woman’s University; master’s in Theology from Winona Lake School of Theology; and Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary. She was a public school teacher, taught classes at Asbury College in Bible and English, and served as Assistant Librarian. Mrs. Hunter was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Jacksboro where she was a faithful member serving in many capacities including teaching Sunday School. Mrs. Hunter was the consummate preacher’s wife. She was a beautiful Christian woman inside and out. She will be missed dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother John Lindsey and sister Jean.

Mrs. Hunter is survived today by her sister-in-law Carol Lindsey, niece Carolyn Lindsey and husband Walter Jones, nephews David Lindsey and wife Pam, Andrew Lindsey, and Jonathan Lindsey; several cousins, special caregivers Ken and Darlene Thompson and many other extended family members and friends.
