Rain continues to hang around

Fri, 04/29/2016 - 2:56 pm
In and Around Post Oak

This has been another rainy week with high water along the road away from my house. The water came to the back fence on two different mornings and was out of banks both days.

The creek on Pudding Valley road was over the road and the road just north of my house was covered and deep enough traffic could not pass two days. The Trinity River was out those days also. I finally went to Bowie to stay with Sheila on Wednesday but I had to go to Marietta to go to Bowie. The road commissioner advised me to go to Marietta to go to Bowie because of high water and washed out roads. Then tonight I heard rain is in the forecast again for this week.. I know I should not complain because God sends the rain but I have a fear of flooding again after my house flooded in 1989. The fear is always in my mind every time it rains.

Thursday was a bad day for the Busy Bees. Two members met to quilt on the quilt that is in the frames. Marilyn Scarber and Elsie Graham. Also Crime Watch was canceled for Thursday night.

Walter and Clydene Webb visited Carol Turpin in Houston on Sunday They are on their way for a cruise and stopped by to visit Carol.

The quilters all miss Carol when she is in Houston. And I was glad Clydene and Walter had time to drop by for a visit before boarding the cruise ship.

Lorie Ramos and boys from Amarillo visited James and Debbie Logan and the Renfro Scarbers this week.

Bill Cypert visited in Fort Worth this week. He got out  before the creek got too high to cross.

Crime Watch was canceled this week due to the high water.

Sunday was a nice day and about 30 people attended church at the Baptist Church.

Thought for the week — Happiness is not a state to arrive at, but a manner of traveling. Have a good week.
