Birthing rates may increase at FCH
Faith Community Hospital could potentially see an increase in its amount of births in the coming weeks. Chief Nursing Officer Paula Edwards told board members at their regular meeting that with Olney Hamilton Hospital no longer doing birthing as of Saturday, Feb.
Precinct 2 open house set for Feb. 3
After several months of construction and planning, the Jack County Precinct 2 barn is open and ready for visitors. Commissioner Kenny Salazar invites the public to come see the new facility at an open house from 5 to 7 p.m.

Mental health resources discussed at Lions Club
A stigma of mental health portrayed by Hollywood couldn’t be further from the truth, a Red River Hospital spokesman told Jacksboro Lions Club members. Carlee Coggins, a business development representative with the 96-bed facility in Wichita Falls, said the padded room and Hollywood mindset is just wrong.
County to receive new K-9, handler
Jack County will have a new K-9 officer on the streets in the next few weeks. A $9,500 grant will be used to pay for the dog, who is trained but will undergo further training with his new handler, Jack County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Katie Thompson.
PWCISD board to consider bond issue
After months of consideration and discussion, a facilities planning committee has made a recommendation to the Perrin-Whitt CISD board of trustees on a bond issue. The committee is making a recommendation for a nearly $25.5 million issue which will have a multi-purpose building including a cafeteria, auditorium, fine arts room, science and technology classes and a new PE gym, and ag and career technology building.
JISD board extends Burnett’s contract
Jacksboro ISD Superintendent Brad Burnett’s contract was extended one-year into June 2028 after board action during the Monday, Jan. 13 meeting.
Council hears discussion about Jacksboro PD
Jacksboro residents wanted to know what the city council planned on doing about the recent numbers of Jacksboro police officers leaving. Since the item was not on the Monday, Jan.
