Jacksboro residents are planning a 150th Anniversary of the city’s incorporation celebration. Under the leadership of Roxanna Maddox, Jacksboro Economic Development Corporation Executive Director Brenda Tarpley and other volunteers, two meetings have already been held with some preliminary information getting out.

Jacksboro officials recently had a new weather station installed on top of the Twin Lakes Activity Center that will keep residents safe and provide valuable information to residents. Parks and Recreation Director Will Mangum said the station, which was ready for use Monday, March 31, will give residents the temperature, daily rainfall, heat index, wind speed and direction.

TNT Fest is moving back to the downtown square this year. The event, scheduled Saturday, June 28 from 11 a.m.

County officials are negotiating with “six to 10” battery storage facilities and data center companies to bring their facilities to Jack County. County Judge Keith Umphress said through education and experience the focus from bringing wind farms, and their massive footprint, to the county has changed to bringing the battery storage facilities and data centers.
