Changes in city council, JISD

The unofficial election results were released for Jack County with contested races for the city of Jacksboro, Jacksboro ISD, Bryson ISD and a Perrin-Whitt CISD bond election. Former city of Jacksboro mayor Alton Morris, Jr., won back his old position while Shawnea Smith won the vacated Place 2 alderman spot from Brandon Sisson, who did not run for reelection.

JEDC grant canceled

A federal grant the Jacksboro Economic Development Corporation set to be used for its industrial park entrance and to build infrastructure has been canceled by the federal government. JEDC Executive Director Brenda Tarpley said the $1.5 million American Rescue Plan Act grant, which was allocated in part for state and local governments, was canceled for work not having started after two years.

Morris wins mayor seat; Harmonson, Smith win new council positions

The unofficial election results were released for Jack County with contested races for the city of Jacksboro, Jacksboro ISD, Bryson ISD and a Perrin-Whitt CISD bond election.

Former city of Jacksboro mayor Alton Morris, Jr., won back his old position while Shawnea Smith won the vacated Place 2 alderman spot from Brandon Sisson, who did not run for reelection. 

Tyler Harmonson won the alderman Place 5 position over incumbent John Moffit. Moffit was appointed to fill former councilman Stewart Chalmers’ position when Chalmers moved out of the city limits.
