The fire at 322 N. 6th St. began as a grass fire.

State fire marshals were in Jacksboro Thursday and Friday investigating two fires that occurred within about an hour of each other Wednesday night.

Jacksboro Fire Chief Jeremy Jennings said firefighters were dispatched to the first fire at 322 N. 6th St. at approximately 8 p.m.

He said it was mostly a grass fire that barely reached the house.

The second fire was reported shortly after 9 p.m. in a mobile home at 401 W. College. That fire burned the front room, but Jennings said not much of the trailer was burned.

Both houses were vacant. One owned by a woman living in Odessa and the other owned by the City of Jacksboro.

“They were both suspicious but the cause is still undetermined. The state fire marshals are looking into it,” Jennings said.

He added a person of interest has been identified, but no arrest has been made.
