Vendors, entrants needed for Chilifest, Car Show Nov. 13

There’s little more than a month left to enter the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce Chilifest and Classic Car Show, set for the Jacksboro Square from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13.

The car show starts at 11 a.m., with arrival and set up beginning at 10 a.m. Judging begins at 12:30 p.m. and awards will be announced at 1:30 p.m.

Car show awards will be given for oldest model, most unique, best work in progress, best paint, best interior, best engine, best overall in show and for the car club with largest attendance. Entry fee is $25 which includes a T-shirt for those who pre-register.

Vendor space is also being sold for $50 per 10’ by 10’ space, which includes a 6’ table and two chairs. All GoTexan vendors will receive a 50% discount.

Sponsorships for the event range from $100 to $1,000. Event and Entertainment Sponsors will have to pay $1,000 and will be presented from the stage. Sponsors will receive one team entry and 10’ by 10’ vendor space; their logo on printed materials, social media/website, and on the banner; and will be mentioned as a sponsor in press release and event wrap-up.

Other event sponsorship levels include Caliente Sponsor for $500; Hot Sponsor for $250; and Mild Sponsor for $100.

The chili contest is one of the highlights of the event. A cooks meeting is set for 2:45 p.m. with cooking allowed from 3 to 5 p.m. Those that attend will be allowed to taste the chili from 5 to 7 p.m.

Judging is set for 5:30 p.m., with awards announced at 6:45 p.m. First place will take home $250 and an etched cutting board; second place $200; third place $150; and people’s choice $100.

Even those who don’t make chili can still compete, as awards will be passed out for “Best Decorated Area,” “Sassy Salsa,” “Craving Cornbread,” “Bodacious Beans,” and “Perfect Pie.”

Entry fee for competing is $40.

Other activities will be going on throughout the day for attendees all ages, so bring the family out and enjoy the annual event.
