Santa is coming to town

Wed, 11/24/2021 - 9:44 am
Christmas parade set for Dec. 2

A holiday tradition is coming to Jacksboro Thursday, Dec. 2.

Jacksboro’s Christmas Parade is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Entries are encouraged by all organizations, clubs, churches, businesses and citizens. The city Christmas tree which usually is near the Jack County Courthouse will also be lit at around the same time.

The theme for the parade is Christmas, with the only limit being someone’s imagination. Some of the guidelines include:
• Maximum entry height is 15’ and at no time are entries allowed to break away from the designated parade routes.
• Any performances on floats or other groups must be performed as they pass the judges’ stage. Entries will not be allowed to stop for performances.

Parade entries must be in by Wednesday, Dec. 1 and can be sent to Jacksboro City Hall, located at 112 W. Belknap in Jacksboro, faxed to 940-567-2590, or email completed entry forms to ljackson@city ofjacksboro.com.

Leslie Jackson with the city said entries should arrive on Oakwood St. by the VFW Post before 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2. The parade will proceed down Main Street to Belknap and head east on Belknap, before heading north on Church St. to return to the Oakwood area.

After the parade, Santa will be available for pictures and last-minute gift requests can be given to him. Any vendors wishing to take part and sell their wares can do so, but must supply everything they need themselves, Jackson said.

For any questions about the parade, contact Jackson at 940-567-6321.
