Rain delays Wellness Center construction

Fri, 07/08/2016 - 4:33 pm

Recent rains have benefitted the grounds around Jack County but have slowed work on the Wellness Center at Faith Community Hospital.

Steady, consistent rains in recent months have hindered work at the facility by Underwood Construction, particularly on the outside. Work on the foundation is scheduled to begin in the next couple of weeks.

After that, substantial work should begin “rocking and rolling,” according to Underwood spokesman Tyson Thompson.

Beaman said in an e-mail that foundation forms are were expected to be pulled Thursday.

“Once the foundation is poured, we can begin standing the building up,” Beaman said. “Work on the parking lots will follow.”

Beaman said while he would never complain about the rain, he is still “hopeful” about a mid-Fall completion date of the facility. After a recent update from work on the plumbing and electrical rough in started earlier this week with work on the indoor pool, a major seller of the facility, expected to be poured later this week.

Beaman said that while the company is disappointed in the delays they have been proactive in making sure they can work quickly once the ground dries out, which has sped up the process.

While most of the money has been found or donated for the project, the FCH Foundation is still accepting donations for the project, which is expected to run about $1.8 million upon completion. State of the art Technogym equipment has been secured for the 10,000 square-foot facility.
