Perrin-Whitt perfect in financial audit

Tue, 10/22/2019 - 12:29 pm

Perrin-Whitt CISD has a little less to worry about after getting a perfect score on their financial audit.

The Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, or FIRST, was explained in depth at Perrin’s school board meeting on Oct. 15. The board went over what it took to achieve a perfect score, including the 15 different criteria sections that the school board had to meet.

Those criteria included items such as having no defaults on payments, having enough cash on hand to cover expenditures and making sure student to staff ratio does not decline more than 15%.

School Board President Chris Keeney said although it was nice to get a perfect score, it all depends on keeping your paperwork in check.

“We just had to keep our p’s and q’s in a straight line,” Keeney said. “We needed to put paperwork where it needed to go and by we, I mean one person.”
