Perrin CISD lunch prices to go up this year

Wed, 07/29/2020 - 5:00 am

PERRIN – Lunch prices here will be increasing for the next school year after a board member approved increase during the July 23 board meeting.

Lunch prices for students will go up from $2.62 to $2.75 with adults increasing $3.52 to $4, a 48 cent increase. Prices were raised to meet what the federal government said should be charged.

Board members also approved a proposed Maintenance and Operation tax rate of 95.07 cent per $100 valuation and a 20.65 Interest and Sinking tax rate for the upcoming school year for a $1.15.72 tax rate.

Superintendent Cliff Gilmore said some final numbers are still coming in from Parker County, so the rate could shift slightly. Students in the Perrin CISD come from Jack, Palo Pinto and portions of Parker County.

Both the teacher and student handbooks were approved by the board. Gilmore said no change were made from the Texas Association of School Board handbooks except local things were added, like the dress code.

A $14,000 increase, or 6-7 percent, was approved for property, casualty, and worker’s compensation by the Texas Association of School Boards from $160,000 to $174,000.

A public hearing date to discuss the 2020-21 budget and tax rate is set for Monday, Aug. 31 at 6:30 p.m. The budget will go into effect in October.
