Morris wins mayor seat; Harmonson, Smith win new council positions

The unofficial election results were released for Jack County with contested races for the city of Jacksboro, Jacksboro ISD, Bryson ISD and a Perrin-Whitt CISD bond election.

Former city of Jacksboro mayor Alton Morris, Jr., won back his old position while Shawnea Smith won the vacated Place 2 alderman spot from Brandon Sisson, who did not run for reelection. 

Tyler Harmonson won the alderman Place 5 position over incumbent John Moffit. Moffit was appointed to fill former councilman Stewart Chalmers’ position when Chalmers moved out of the city limits.

Incumbent Joel Hood won his Place 4 seat back over challenger Victor Sanchez.

In the Jacksboro ISD election, Zach Zeitler defeated Bart Gavit for the Place 7 seat vacated by Lisa Perry.

In Bryson ISD, Jarrett Nevarez defeated Ricky Easter for the Place 1 position, vacated by former Board President Frank Hefner.

The Perrin-Whitt CISD bond was defeated by total of 142 against and 132 for those proposition. The $25,450,500 proposed bond included include a multi-purpose facility including a cafeteria, auditorium and room for fine arts classes. 

The proposal also included a career center would have  will been the new home of the ag program and later incorporate programs such as construction trades and electronics.
Elections results are not official until votes are canvassed by the governing body.
