BOYD – Jacksboro Middle School’s girls had a solid second place finish at a meet Saturday here.

The Tigerettes were second, behind three top 10 finishes. Brailyn Tullous was 6th in 14:38 followed by Emily Rodgers in 8th with a 14:45. Michelle Barron rounded up the top 10 with a 15:08 clocking.

Madison Collins was 12th with a 15:38 time, Liliana Perez was right behind in 13th with a 15:53 time. Dylan Nichols was 19th in 16:31. Angel Belyeu was 22nd in 17:13 and Bella Nail finishing 26th with an 18:00 time.

There is hope for the future of the Tigerettes, as sixth graders Rylee Bennett (14:55) and Kylee Johnson (18:28) also ran unattached.

For the boys, they Tigers had just two runners but both finished in the top 10. Eli Jonas was 3rd in 12:51 while Eric Pizana was 10th in 15:35.

Lochlan Pardue, a sixth grader, ran unattached but ran a 13:24. Coach Steve Hooten was impressed with the strong finish.

“We are really proud of the progress the boys and girls are making,” Hooten said in an email. “The course at Boyd is always challenging, and there was some good competition at this meet. The times we posted showed a lot of improvement, and we feel like this was a good showing leading up to the District Meet next week at Holliday (Saturday 10/17). At the District Meet next week the Girls will compete at 9:00am followed by the Boys at 9:30am.
