JISD welcomes new elementary principal

Jacksboro ISD’s new elementary principal is looking to put her skills to use in bringing up the campus from its improvement required accountability rating.

Tina Alvarado was selected by the board of trustees to lead the campus.

Alvarado comes to Jacksboro from Springtown ISD where she most recently served a the elementary curriculum coordinator.

“This is my philosophy. I know that God has a plan for me so doors open and close,” she said concerning why she chose to take the position in Jacksboro.

Alvarado grew up in Mineral Wells. After graduating high school, she traveled the country and lived in Florida, Idaho and Washington State.

“I wanted to explore what else is out there in the world,” she said. “Then I came back and finished up my bachelor’s degree at Tarleton and was a classroom teacher for second, third, fourth and fifth grades.”
