JCSO K9 receives body armor donation

Thu, 12/16/2021 - 9:07 am

Jack County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Officer, Canelo, recently received a body armor donation. The vest, which was donated by non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., is both bullet and stab protective.
According to a JCSO Facebook post Sunday, Dec. 12, Canelo’s protective vest was sponsored by the organization through an Amazon Smile donor purchase percentage program.

“(The vest was) embroidered with the sentiment ‘This gift of protection provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.,’” the post states.

Vested Interest in K9s, which was established in 2009, provides bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States. The potentially live-saving canine body armor is custom-fitted and NIJ-certified.

The organization has provided over 4,481 vests to K9 officers across the country, at a value of $6.9 million.
