As part of Monday night’s regular Faith Community Hospital board meeting, FCH’s John Moffit was honored by a Dallas-Fort Worth area church for his work during an April incident involving their pastor.

Robert Morris, pastor of Gateway Church based in Southlake, explained he had suffered a massive hematoma in his stomach where two arteries had ruptured while at his Jack County ranch April 8. Before he even arrived at the ranch, Moffit made the call to have a helicopter ready.

It was that call that may have saved Morris’ life.

Moffit and other first responders were honored by the church at a recent Patriots’ Day service at the church. Moffit said he was simply helping his neighbor.

“It’s what I do to keep the community together,” Moffit said.

Hospital CEO Frank Beaman attended the ceremony. A video was made honoring Moffit for his work on Pastor Morris and shown during the ceremony.

In other news, Rod Hammond was sworn in as a board member replacing Edwina Swan, completing the board . Hammond was sworn in by Board Attorney Mason Spiller.
