Horseshoe State Tournament Oct. 10 in Weatherford

Wed, 09/16/2020 - 12:00 am

Will Perrin-Whitt defend its State Tournament title next month?

That is the question being asked by horseshoe aficionados as the Texas Horseshoe Pitching Association and the Weatherford Noon Lions Club are announcing the 2nd Annual Texas High School State Championship Horseshoe Pitching Tournament. Both entities will host the tournament scheduled for Sat, Oct. 10 at Weatherford’s Love Street Park, 309 Love St. starting at 8 am. Entry is now open and closes Oct 1. To enter students or parents can contact John Allison, State Tournament Director at 817 598- 9531 or email jallison@nxlink.com

Students play free and there is room for 96 boys or girls in grades 9-12. Last year 13 teams took part in the first ever event. The public is invited to drop by and see the students pitch.

Last year Perrin Whitt won the school Championship with Knox City Runner-up. Students received 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th place trophies. Allison said in an email this year we are adding a belt buckle for the State Champion.

It was unclear on whether Perrin-Whitt would reenter the tournament as their sponsor Jesse Laine has moved on to Bryson.
