FCH board approves budget, tax rate

Tue, 08/24/2021 - 6:21 pm

Faith Community Hospital Board members opted to keep the tax rate the same and approved the 2021-22 budget during their regular Aug. 16 board meeting.

CEO Frank Beaman said there was a “marginal” drop in property value. The hospital has had the same tax rate for many years, Beaman said.

A budget presentation was given by COO Kim Lee. The hospital’s service area has grown since the opening of the new hospital to include Bowie, Alvord and Young County, growing from 8,800 residents to more than 116,000 today. The FCH system has received 50,000 visits across the system per year.

“We’re a significant regional player in providing health care,” Beaman said.

The hospital has 108 days of cash on hand ,while the industry average is reportedly less than 30. Much like everywhere, the nursing shortage has hurt FCH, particularly in obstetrics.
