Early voting begins April 19

The election for city, county, and school board positions is set for Saturday, May 1.

Jacksboro city will have an election for just one spot in Place 4 as Joel Hood, Alton Wayne Morris, the son of current Mayor Alton Morris and Will Mathis are running for the spot.

Both other city positions are running unopposed. Joe Mitchell is running unopposed for the Mayor’s spot which is being vacated by present Mayor Alton Morris. Also Place 2 has just one person running in Brandon R. Sisson.

On the school board side, all three positions are being contested. Place 3 in which incumbent Brent Hackley opted not to run, Mason Spiller and Bryson Pankey have filed for the position. In place 4, incumbent Martha Salmon Hackley has filed along with Robert Ostrander.

For David Spiller’s Place 5 position, Chris Payson, who was appointed to fill the remainder of the position after Spiller resigned to take a State Representative position. Gary Zeitler and Will Magnum have also filed for the position.

Early voting begins April 19 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day. It goes April 20-23 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and April 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. before ending April 27 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jack County Courthouse.

Other County elections, including those for county positions, have a Wednesday deadline. Bryson city and school board are not having an election this year.
