Cooper talks telemedicine, Swan Wellness Center

Wed, 10/07/2020 - 5:00 am

County Health Official Dr. Robert Cooper gave board members updates during the FCH board meeting Sept. 28.

The cooperative between Faith Community Hospital and the Jacksboro ISD, which provides telemedicine services from JISD schools and the FCH Clinic to make things easier for parents if they so choose has gotten off to a solid start. Cooper said about 9-10 patients, both students and staff, taking part, which has been “huge.”

“Now, by the time the parent arrives, the testing and lab work has all been done and the prescription is more than likely waiting at the pharmacy,” Cooper said. “It’s a great program.”

Parker County has had a similar program for the last few years because of grants . As costs have come down for telemedicine, the ability to have it has gotten better.

Cooper said clinic officials will be speaking with Bowie ISD and Alvord ISD officials next to determine if they would like it.

Cooper also gave an update on the Swan Family Wellness Center. As restrictions become looser as opposed to group situations, it still only matters that people remain six feet from each other.

“Locker rooms are beginning to loosen up which means pools will begin to open up to a very limited schedule,” Cooper said. “Strict cleaning guidelines will continue happening and people will continue coming in when they are comfortable.
