City to finalize new zoning next month
The City of Jacksboro will finalize its new zoning ordinance at its next meeting to be held July 10.
City Manager Mike Smith said during the regular city council meeting Monday all of the notes and revisions will be compiled and the council members will receive a “clean copy” to review before taking action on adopting the new ordinance.
He plans to have the updated zoning map posted by October 1.
The city council members exited the council chambers for a closed meeting with City Attorney David Spiller and Police Chief Terry McDaniel that lasted approximately 45 minutes that resulted in no action.
The agenda item read, “Discussion, deliberation, and/or consideration of employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, resignation, compensation and/or dismissal of the chief of police.”
During the meeting, Smith also provided a monthly activity report to the council.
According to the report, city staff began budget planning for the fiscal year 2017-18 set to begin October 1.
The city also met with the producer of the television show “Texas Flip-N-Move” to look at a number of houses in town that might qualify to be moved and restored. Two houses were confirmed to be moved and four others are being considered.
