ChiliFest and car show

Things are heating up at the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce as they prepare to kick off deer season and their hunting industry with the 2020 Chamber Chilifest & Classic Car Show.

The event will be held on the Historic Jacksboro Downtown Square Saturday, Nov. 14th, from 4 – 8 pm. It will include a cookoff for the best chili and fixings, vendor booths for shopping, and close out with live entertainment and dancing from area favorite and upcoming country artist Matt Wayne.

Prizes include $250 and a cutting board for 1st place, $200 for 2nd place, $150 for

3rd place and $100 for people’s choice. Awards for the Classic Car Show include Oldest Model,

Most Unique, Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Engine, and Best Overall in Show. An award will also be given to the Car Club with the Largest Attendance. Below is the schedule of events:

Car Show Begins – 4pm

Chili Cooking Time – 4:00 to 6:30pm

Matt Wayne Band – 6:00 to 8:00pm

Chili Judging – 6:30pm

Classic Car Show Awards: 6:30pm

Chili Tasting – 7:00pm

Chili Awards – 7:45pm

“Traditionally, in the Spring the Chamber hosts a Classic Car Show and in the Fall we host our annual Chilifest to celebrate the hunting industry that plays a key role in our community. This year’s pandemic changed tradition and we have merged these two events for more ways to complete, and fun for the whole family. We look forward to hosting this event this year to bring together our community and surrounding areas to enjoy a safe evening out in the spirit of good fun and entertainment.” stated Executive Director Valerie Monk. “Hand sanitizing stations will be placed throughout the event for added safety precaution and we encourage families to come out, enjoy chili, shopping, classic cars, kids’ activities and live music.”
