The Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for their annual Citizen of the Year, Gladys Johnson Ritchie and the Lifetime Achievement awards, all of which will be handed out at the Chamber of Commerce Banquet Feb. 22.

The awards ceremony annually honors those in the community who give back through community service, commerce or volunteer work.

“Lifetime Achievement, that is just what it says it is, they have really contributed to the community or to the commerce of the community over their lifetime,” Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Leslie Chalmers said. “Gladys John Ritchie is more about a monetary donation. It is someone who has really been established within the community from a monetary standpoint, but they have given back and made a financial imprint on the community.”

She added the Citizen of the Year Award recognizes someone who has made a commitment to community service in Jacksboro.

Last year, the Gladys Ritchie Johnson Award went to Joe Paul Nichols Jr. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to John Cater Hackley and the Citizen of the Year award was presented to Melanie Belcher.
