Busy but should I get busier?

Wed, 01/13/2021 - 5:00 am

Thirtyfive years is a long time to be doing one thing.

I was talking with a Bryson player the other night at a game who asked me how long I’d been doing what I do. I told him and he said that’s twice as long as he had been alive.

That’s a good thing in my mind, as with folks switching jobs like they change underwear these days, sticking with a career is not necessarily a bad thing. I have expanded my portfolio over the years to include radio color person in nearly all sports, which has been fun.

Still I prefer doing what I went to school for, the writing aspect. Still, helping out every once in a while is never a bad thing.

I have switched some of my focus over the years here in Tigerland, from the JMS kids to the surrounding high schools. Haven’t noticed much difference except for one school that really seemed to like it.

No one has ever said where did the JMS coverage go. For the most part, the JMS coaches were doing it anyway except for everyone once in a while I would show up for a pic or two to go with the writeup.

I’ve a chance to see both JMS and JHS hoop Saturday. Nocona Middle School’s boys will be playing Jacksboro in the morning while the high school kids will be facing City View in the p.m.. Everything will be played at the high school.

Considering doing it for a couple of reasons: to meet some new people, to extend the olive branch and maybe get some more stuff restarted which is a good thing. The more the merrier has always been my philosophy, but if it’s a waste of time to write it up because of lack of space, I can understand that as well.

Always thinking about trying different things and how to get better. When you hear nothing either way, which is general for me, I just keep going down the same road.

Hope to see you on it.

That’s about it for this week. As always, thanks for reading.

See y’all down the road.
