    Bryson students staying busy, board adopts goals

BRYSON – School board members heard reports and approved their goals for the upcoming school year during their regular meeting Sept. 21.

School Principal Gary Kirby said the school’s enrollment is around 256 or about five more than last month. High school and junior high kids recent took end of year tests for the grades they were in last year to see how much they’ve retained or lost. Eighth graders took the seventh grade test. Seventh took sixth grade and so on.

The results will be used to determine a curriculum for what is needed for students to learn at their present grade level. It was found that they younger the child was, the harder they were hurt.

Bryson hosted a 4-H Greenhand conference in September with 10 districts taking part in the event. Kirby said things went very well.The State President and Vice President for FFA also spoke at Bryson recently with the kids learning a lot about the organization.

Assistant Principal Jason Briles will be working on developing a working with many of the gifted and talented kids this school year. Kirby said the G-T kids have been kind of left behind in recent years which Briles hopes to do a better job if retaining
