Bryson ISD approves 21-22 School Calendar

BRYSON – School board members here approved the 2021-22 calendar as part of the April 19 regular school board meeting.

Students will start Monday, Aug. 16 with the last day of school May 19. New students can register the week of Aug. 2-6. Thanks giving break will run the week of Nov. 22-26 with Christmas Break running Dec. 17-Jan. 3.

The school day will run from 8 a.m. to 3:35 p.m. with Friday dismissal coming at 2 p.m.It’s the third straight year year of having early Friday dismissal which has drawn positive approval from many.

In other news, Agriculture instructor Jesse Laine gave a report on the many FFA successes this Spring. Junior Windsor Godfrey was named an area officer for next school year. In a related item, eighth grader Dalton Birdwell gave a public relations presentation on behalf of Jack County 4-H.

Approved a contract with Fort Worth’s Carter Construction to resurface the track, which has been a topic of discussion for some time. Superintendent Greg London said work on the $196,000 project should begin late next month.

Principal Gary Kirby gave his monthly report and stated enrollment sits at 259 and talked about the One Act Play going to State in Corsicana. Their performance will be May 1 at 3 pm in Corsicana.

London talked about the school’s smart touch TVs which are in place and the 5-10 which are to be installed for the 21-22 school year.

The installation of those TVs will come as part of a few minor fixes scheduled for this summer.
