Bryson to hold May elections

Fri, 03/03/2017 - 3:01 pm

Bryson will host its elections May 6 for city council and school board trustees. Incumbents for both the Jacksboro City and Jacksboro ISD School Board are running unopposed.

The Jacksboro City Council canceled its election at its meeting Monday. The JISD School Board will likely do so at its March meeting.

For the City of Bryson, the seats up for election are currently held by Luticia Ford, Larry Nantz and Tommy Burris.

Nantz and Burris opted not to run for re-election. Candidates who filed for places on the ballot are incumbent Ford along with Ray Jennings, Paul Foster and Pete Butler.

Early voting will be at Bryson City Hall weekdays April 24 through May 2 from 8 a.m. to noon and will have extended hours for two of those days to be determined at the next council meeting.

The three seats up for election for Bryson ISD are currently held by T-Bob Hauger, Blake Brooks and Lynn Casteel. Hauger filed for re-election for Place 3 and Brooks filed for re-election for Place 4.

Casteel did not file for re-election in Place 5. Ronnie Collins and Brandi Bennett have filed to run for the position.

Jacksboro City Council members Joe Mitchell, Melanie Belcher and Mayor Alton Morris filed for re-election with no other candidates filing.

The unopposed seats on the JISD School Board are currently held by Ken Swan and Jeff Lewis.
