Arrests made for school break-ins

Fri, 09/02/2016 - 12:39 pm

Two men are being held in the Jack County Jail as of Wednesday for break-ins at Perrin. Charges have also been filed against four juveniles.

Hayden Jett, 18, and Dalton Lewis, 18, who recently moved to Perrin from Oklahoma, were arrested for burglarizing the school. Four juveniles, two boys and two girls ranging in age from 12 to 16, have also been identified in connection with the break-ins.

The Perrin School reported three break-ins July 17, July 19 and July 23. Jack County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Michael Francis said the exact dates of the break-ins are uncertain because the incidents occurred during summer vacation.

Interim PWCISD Superintendent W.R. Tucker said school staff has discovered an estimated $58,000 worth of damage.

The first suspect was charged and arrested July 23. Francis said the sheriff’s office received information that Hayden Jett was at a residence in Perrin with some of the stolen property in his vehicle.

He was charged with burglary.

Lewis and the rest of those involved have been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, a third-degree felony.

Lewis was arrested in Wise County for charges unrelated to the break-ins then transferred to Jack County Jail Aug. 9. The juveniles were not arrested but cases have been filed with the juvenile probation office. Francis said the sheriff’s office still needs to make contact with one of the juveniles that is now in Oklahoma.

Jett and Lewis were still being held in the Jack County Jail as of Friday morning. Their bonds are set at $10,000 and $15,000 respectively.
